INDIA TO HOST FIRST BIG CAT SUMMIT IN JUNE
- The inaugural International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) Summit, to be held here from June 1 to 3, is expected to adopt the first-ever global declaration on big cat conservation, titled the ‘Delhi Declaration’, which will articulate shared priorities, strengthen transboundary cooperation, and promote a landscape-based approach for conserving big cats and their habitats.

THE EMPLOYEES’ STATE INSURANCE (ESI) SCHEME

THE VIKSIT BHARAT—GUARANTEE FOR ROZGAR AND AJEEVIKA MISSION (GRAMIN) (VB–G RAM G) ACT, 2025
The Viksit Bharat—Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB–G RAM G) Act, 2025, passed in December 2025, replaces MGNREGA to provide 125 days of guaranteed wage employment (up from 100) per rural household, aligned with the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision. It focuses on durable asset creation, digital transparency, and a 60-day agricultural pause for labor availability.
SAMADHAN SAMAROH” INITIATIVE
- To advance the vision of ‘participative justice’ and ‘doorstep delivery of justice’, the Supreme Court of India is organising ‘Supreme Court Action for Mediated Adjudication and Disputes Harmonization Across Nation’-SAMADHAN SAMAROH which commenced from 21st April, 2026 and will culminate in the holding of a Special Lok Adalat on 21st, 22nd and 23rd August, 2026.
- This Special Lok Adalat aims to facilitate amicable settlement of pending matters before the Supreme Court of India through consent-based resolution mechanisms.
THE UNION CABINET APPROVED THE LAUNCH OF THE URBAN CHALLENGE FUND (UCF)
Salient Features of the Urban Challenge Fund:
- A minimum of 50 per cent of project financing have to be mobilised from market sources, including municipal bonds, bank loans and Public–Private Partnerships (PPPs). The remaining share may be contributed by States, Union Territories (UTs), Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) or other sources.
- Projects will be selected through a transparent and competitive challenge mode, ensuring support to high-impact and reform-oriented proposals.
- There will be a strong thrust on reforms across Urban Governance, Market & Financial systems, Operational efficiency, and Urban Planning
- Private sector participation will be encouraged through structured risk-sharing frameworks and benchmarking of service delivery standards
- A dedicated ₹5,000 crore corpus will enhance the creditworthiness of 4223 cities including Tier- II and Tier-III cities, particularly for first-time access to market finance.

SEAWEED CULTIVATION
- Seaweed, or macroalgae, refers to thousands of species of macroscopic, multicellular, marine algae. The term includes some types of Rhodophyta (red), Phaeophyta (brown) and Chlorophyta (green) macroalgae.
